Nightingale’s Next Level Chair — “NLC” — now ranks as a Best of NeoCon 2019 award winner. The competition, Best of NeoCon, awards outstanding products among the thousands displayed at the annual NeoCon show. During the convention, a panel of 41 judges carefully inspect the showcased creations. Afterwards, the jurors, made up of established interior designers, architects and facility managers, vote to decide standouts in each product category. The NLC, a desk chair, took home the silver award in the Seating: Ergonomic Desk/Task classification.
This honor is especially significant as NeoCon showcases the year’s latest and most innovative products in the commercial design industry. Held at The Mart in Chicago every June, NeoCon serves as a worldwide platform for established manufacturers as well as emerging companies.

Nightingale’s CXO chair has won a 2019 European Product Design Award. Category winners are selected by a jury of expert designers, design educators, and clients. The office chair earned silver in the competition’s ‘Home Interior Product/Interior Furniture’ category. This accolade is an impressive indicator of success for the company; it further sets Nightingale apart from the crowd.

04/26/2019 – Nightingale Celebrates Canada's Best Managed Companies Win at Gala
On April 17, 2019, Nightingale celebrated among Canada’s other Best Managed Companies at the annual Best Managed Gala, organized by Deloitte, CIBC, and Queen's Smith School of Business. Nightingale was named one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for the third year in a row earlier in the year.
The gala is a night to celebrate the best in Canadian business and culture. At this black-tie event, awards were presented to new Best Managed Winners, as well as some platinum and gold winners who have been named Best Managed for 10-15 years running.
After the awards ceremony, winning companies were entertained by Alan Doyle — of Great Big Sea fame — and his band.
Now entering its 27th year, the Best Managed Companies competition recognizes businesses that not only have solid profits, but exceptional strategy, innovation, practices, ethics, commitment to employees, capability for future growth, and drive for continual reflection. It was a fun night for all attendees, and Nightingale was pleased to be part of the celebrations for the second year in a row.

04/26/2019 – Nightingale’s ‘Emily’ Wins Gold in IDA Awards
Nightingale’s Emily chair has been awarded the gold prize in product design in the 2019 International Design Awards. Created by designers, thinkers, and entrepreneurs, the International Design Awards recognize and celebrate smart and sustainable multidisciplinary design. Since 2007, they have awarded companies across design disciplines: fashion, architecture, graphic, interior, and product design. Our Emily chair is a newcomer to the awards circuit: this was its first entry, and its first win!
A combination seating and table product, the Emily is vibrant yet soft, with clean lines and a playful shape. It was inspired by W.R. Breen’s youngest granddaughter and will brighten up any environment. Designed to be easily converted, the Emily is perfect for multi-tasking people and multi-purpose spaces.
The IDA recognized Emily for both its design and functionality. It’s easily convertible nature means it fills a void in the lounge and guest seating market. It allows users to do more with less space, facilitating collaboration and creativity.
We are excited that the Emily has received the top ‘gold’ prize in the International Design Awards, and proud that its innovative features have been recognized.

03/14/2019 – Nightingale Wins Bronze in IDA Design Awards
The IC2 wins big again, as it has claimed Bronze in the International Design Awards: Interior Furniture Category. The International Design Awards, based out of California, were conceptualized by a handful of designers, thinkers, and entrepreneurs in 2007 as a response to the lack of recognition and celebration for smart and sustainable, multi-disciplinary design. Now in its 12th year, the International Design Awards exist to recognize, celebrate, and promote legendary design visionaries and uncover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic, and Fashion Design. The IDA’s goal is to draw attention to the iconoclasm of design worldwide, conceptualizing and producing great work.
Nightingale is thrilled to receive bronze in the Interior Furniture Category: a great way to kick off our Spring 2019 season. The bronze title recognizes the hard work of our designers, engineers, and product specialists, but especially recognizes the visionary work of chief designer William R. Breen. He came up with the IC2 with the goal of pushing the design envelope of what was expected for an ergonomic office chair, creating something more sleek, minimalistic, and stylish than what had been seen before (without compromising function, support, and comfort). The strength and success of his innovation has been noted by several awards and design agencies, including the German Design Awards, Iconic Awards, APDC Awards, and Good Design Awards.
The IDA’s recognition of the IC2 as a visionary product design is a testament to Nightingale’s ability to push the envelope of ergonomic seating, rather than simply following static and established trends. Earning accolades in the design world encourages us to keep testing, innovating, and imagining.

03/14/2019 – Nightingale Winner in Canadian Business Awards
Nightingale Winner in Canadian Business Awards
Nightingale has been selected as a winner in the Canadian Business Awards by Corporate Vision (CV) Magazine for our performance in 2018. In this year’s round of the Canadian Business Awards, Corporate Vision looked for companies whose performance was strong despite oil price scares in 2017 and trade uncertainties with the United States. Businesses in Canada who not only have strong financials but also strong company ethics were heralded for their efforts, and Nightingale’s commitment to our employees’ job-security, work environment, and work-life balance were praised as contributing to our continual success. Despite challenges to the Canadian economy, Nightingale had a strong year. In addition to expanding our product line, we expanded our roster by hiring a variety of wonderful sales reps. According to Edward Faulkner, Coordinator of the CV awards, these two growth markers were key in Nightingale’s being named one of the top Canadian businesses of 2018.
